This is where my inspiration came to write Guided by the Light — during my predawn walks here at Mission and Pacific Beaches in San Diego, California. But it was in fellowship at Journey Community Church, La Mesa, CA, with other believers that I grew in Christ. That’s where change happens.

About the Author

A Journey That Began Before Dawn

Craig Johnson’s writing emerges from nearly three years of early-morning devotions — mostly during his predawn walks at Mission and Pacific Beaches in San Diego, California. Those quiet hours became the crucible where the Holy Spirit opened his heart to these reflections about the Magi’s journey.

“I wasn’t just studying the Magi — I was being invited to follow them on their journey.”

Thoughts came unexpectedly — scribbled on receipts, in journal margins, in text messages — wherever there was space to capture what God revealed. Scripture led to more Scripture. Reflection led to prayer.

A defining moment came on December 3rd, 2025, when Craig realized the Magi's journey was not toward the star. The star was not the destination. It was the beginning of the way. Everything shifted — and Guided by the Light was born.
